How does single origin differ from blends?

Single origin coffee is traceable to one specific region or farm, making it easier to appreciate unique flavour nuances tied to climate, altitude, and processing. Blends, by contrast, combine beans from multiple origins to create a consistent taste.

What flavour profiles can I expect from single origin coffee?

Each origin brings its own distinct flavour. Ethiopia, Brazil and Colombia often offer chocolate and caramel notes, while Ethiopia and Kenya lean into fruity, floral, or citrus flavours. PNG, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua showcase tropical or sweet fruit profiles. It’s a great way to explore how geography influences taste.

How should I brew single origin coffee?

Single origin coffees shine when brewed using methods that bring out clarity and flavour, such as pour-over, French press or espresso, depending on the roast. Choose a grind size that suits your method, we’re happy to grind your coffee in-store or by request. If you’re not sure where to start, we can also guide you on brew time and ratio to help you get the best flavour.
