Some coffee moments wake you up. Others stay with you. For Kayla, a true Merlo enthusiast, the best moments combine rich coffee, family traditions, and a little bit of feline fun. That’s right, Merlo coffee isn’t just a daily ritual in her household, it even inspired the name of the newest family member: their cat, Merlo.

Consistency You Can Count On

For Kayla, the magic of Merlo isn’t just in the beans. It’s also in the experience. She explains, 

“I think for me, it’s the consistency. Really, like, every time I come here, I get good service. I get a good coffee every time, literally hand on heart. I’ve never ever had a bad coffee from Merlo, which I think is rare.”

Walking in, being greeted by friendly staff, and walking out with a perfect coffee is what keeps her coming back. But it’s not just about service, it’s about the flavour. “I just love having a sip of coffee, feeling that flavour, the boldness, the richness hit your tongue. Like, it’s just perfect. And I think for me, it’s also like a self-care thing. Literally, how can you have a bad day if you sip on a good coffee? It’s literally not possible.”

Merlo doesn’t just give you coffee, it gives you a moment of peace, a little pause to recharge before the day continues. With pods, home machines, and a full range of coffee products, Kayla knows she doesn’t need to go anywhere else.

Coffee, Family, and a Cat

Coffee for Kayla isn’t just a drink, it’s family, community, and memory. Her whole family are Merlo lovers, and the coffee pods have become part of their daily routine.

“I’ve been coming to Merlo for a long time. I’ve been buying the coffee pods, and it became a thing for everyone in my family. A common phrase is, ‘Who’s going to Merlo?’ ‘We’re getting low on pods.’”

“I have a pod machine at home, and it’s great. It does everything itself, so I don’t even have to think about it. I buy the Forza pods, use them in the morning, and I don’t even need an extra shot. The flavour’s still there. It’s perfect. No thought required, just coffee, ready to go.”

One particularly memorable Merlo trip even inspired the perfect name for their newest family member, a cat. Kayla explains that they had been brainstorming names like Smokey and Boots, but nothing felt right. “I come in the door and I’m like, ‘Oh, I’ve been at Merlo, got some pods.’ My dad was like, ‘Merlo… maybe we should name the cat Merlo!’ My mum and everyone straight away, ‘oh my God, that is perfect.’ You know, we all bond over the pods, we love the coffee, so we’re going to love the cat. It’s perfect. That’s definitely my favourite. I see him, I see coffee, I love coffee and I love cats, so it’s perfect.”

From everyday rituals to family traditions, the coffee, the pods, and even the cat remind Kayla why Merlo is more than just a café. The consistency, the flavour, and the community all come together to create more than coffee. It’s a little piece of happiness in every cup.
