BULIYE FROM ETHIOPIA
Fresh, sweet, and exceptionally clean, our Bean of the Month Ethiopia Buliye is a riot of stonefruit flavour guaranteed to bring sunshine to your winter mornings.
Buliye is a gorgeous coffee: bright and cheerful, but mellow enough to drink throughout the day. The perfect companion for the month of June.
First impression is classic Ethiopian coffee: floral fragrance surges from the bag, and those elusive notes of jasmine and rose dance delicately with tropical fruit sweetness.
Juicy apricot, nectarine and pomegranate flavours fill the senses and linger on after the crisp acidity has faded. This is a fruit forward coffee for people who find cherry and berry notes a little too piquant for first thing in the morning. Think apricot danish, not blueberry bubblegum.
As regular readers of this newsletter well know, Ethiopia is the ancestral homeland of all coffee, and this one comes from the Guji region, courtesy of producer Abiyot Boru.
Abiyot has built his business gradually, from a single bed to building a full processing mill to which local small lot farmers can bring their crop. After tasting this offering, we can’t wait to see what he does next.
Until next time, Buna Tetu!
