Escape to the high hills of Lempira with a rare, velvety micro-lot. Honduras El Amate is a gentle, balanced cup defined by lush peach sweetness and a comforting caramel finish. Named after the single ancient tree that guarded the empty hillside when the Ardon Melgar family arrived, this special release proves that incredible flavour can grow from the humblest beginnings.
It opens with bright aromas of cherry and fresh coffee pulp, leading into a juicy medley of stone fruits. A crisp red apple acidity provides a delicate lift, while an exceptionally creamy, round body carries the sweetness through to a soft finish. A beautifully balanced coffee that rewards every sip, whether taken black or poured over silky textured milk.
Grown on the volcanic slopes of Lempira by producer José Eduardo Ardon Melgar. When his family began cultivating this hillside in 2008, it held just one 40-year-old Amate tree. Today, they have built this 22-hectare estate into a model of meticulous agricultural quality.
Cultivated at 1,450 metres above sea level and hand-selected for optimal ripeness. This traditional washed method showcases exceptionally pure regional flavours, balanced acidity, and a luxurious, creamy mouthfeel.
Exceptional across all brewing styles. Delicate peach and red apple notes emerge on pour-over for a clean, juicy cup, while rich stone fruit and soft caramel notes cut beautifully through flat whites and lattes.

High in the mountains of Lempira, in the community of La Granadilla, sits Finca El Amate. When the family of producer José Eduardo Ardon Melgar began developing this land in 2008, it contained not a single coffee plant. Just one ancient Amate tree, already 40 years old, stood watch over the volcanic hillside.
The family cleared the land, built the farm from scratch using their own resources, and named it after the sentinel tree that was there first. Today José oversees 19 hectares of active production. A curated mix of varietals thrives in rich clay-loam soil at around 1,450 metres altitude, creating a cool climate where cherries ripen slowly and develop intense flavour complexity.
Achieving a specialty grade cupping score of 84.25/100, this washed micro-lot stood out on our cupping table for its remarkable clarity. The traditional washed process maximises pure regional character, producing exceptionally clean fruit flavours, lively acidity, and an elegant mouthfeel that rewards every brew.
