Korongo is Swahili for Flamingo and May’s Bean of the Month is as attention-grabbing and remarkable as its namesake.

Just like our pink feathered friends, the Korongo comes from across Tanzania, and has been gathered together to striking effect.

Tanzania Korongo is a single origin blend – made up of harvests gathered from half-to-two-hectare farms – from the regions of Mbozi, Mbeya and Mbinga in Southern Tanzania.

This mix of small lots has been carefully curated and processed to craft a bright and bold flavour profile with pronounced sweetness and excellent body.

Honeyed hibiscus notes in the fragrance suggest that the Korongo is going to be a delicate floral coffee, but don’t be fooled! This coffee is full-bodied and bright, with flavours reminiscent of freshly baked cherry pie - the red fruit notes are sweet and just tart enough to balance the sugar, and it’s all wrapped up in the taste of warm, buttery pastry fresh out of the oven.

The Tanzania Korongo is only available for the month of May, but the processing and blending project is ongoing in Tanzania so please let us know if you’d like to see more from this origin and we’ll do our best to source it.

This is a particularly high quality coffee, with a cupping score of 85.5.
