Smooth as silk, November’s Bean of the Month comes from a community of 1300 small-lot producers in the Southern District of Rwanda. The Land of a Thousand Hills is home to more than 400 000 coffee farming families, most of whom work a patch of land less than a quarter of a hectare in size. This coffee is named for the Kigeme washing station, a facility where the local farmers collect their ripe cherries to be processed and dried before being shipped out for sale.
We debuted the Rwanda Kigeme at a cupping event on the Gold Coast and we were super excited to hear what café owners and baristas thought about it! There was a lot of love for the decadent dessert flavours of chocolate, malt, and hazelnut. One thing that lots of our Cuppers remarked upon was the change from the fruity, floral aromas of the dry ground coffee and the rich, warm sweetness in the cup.
This one will be beautiful through an espresso machine: black or with milk. If you really want to amplify the chocolatey goodness, treat yourself to a cappuccino. We think you’ll love it.
