Our Bean of the Month for July is Rwanda Gihombo!
Rwanda Gihombo is juicy and sweet, with an aroma of figs and strawberries continuing in the cup. The delicious flavour is rounded out by warm dark honey with a hazelnut and cocoa finish.
The hills surrounding Lake Kivu produce some of the best coffees Rwanda has to offer, with almost all coffee produced on small farms of around a hectare each by an estimated half a million families.
The Gihombo Mill serves 320 of these families and works to support sustainable coffee farming by using a 'Penagos de-pulper', which is an eco-friendly processing method that uses around 80% less water than traditional methods.
