Simon Says - It’s All About the Beans (Continued)

Welcome back to ‘Simon Says’ – Episode 2. Continuing with our theme from last week (coffee beans!), today Simon talks about the different flavour profiles of beans from around the world.

Did you know that where a bean is sourced from is the single biggest influence on the associated flavour notes and aromas? Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, Ethiopia and India are some of the largest producers of coffee beans globally, and the different growing conditions give them all a unique taste.

On top of where the bean is sourced from, the roast profile used will have a major impact on the taste, with a darker or lighter roast being preferable depending on what type of coffee you enjoy most.

There is no right or wrong answer with what kind of coffee you prefer, it’s really all down to personal preference. As Simon says, ‘the best way to find out, is to try and see how you like it!

Merlo Coffee beans are sourced from all corners of the globe in our mission to provide our customers with the highest quality and largest variety. If you are interested in trying some great Single Origin beans from around the world, check out our Bean of the Month.
