Merlo coffee supports the Rainforest Alliance sustainable coffee program. The Rainforest Alliance Seal stands for farmers’ adherence to sustainable agriculture standards and has been developed with Sustainable Agriculture network, a coalition of leading environmental organisations.
By committing to source goods grown on Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms, we earn the right to display the seal on the beans sourced from these farms. The Rainforest Alliance ensures that the high quality beans you purchase are produced in harmony with wildlife to maintain healthy ecosystems. On certified farms, workers are treated fairly, soil and water quality are not compromised, waste is managed efficiently, chemical use is dramatically reduced and relations with surrounding communities are strong. There is no licensing fee for using the seal, which cannot be purchased – as it must be earned.
Look for the little green frog on our coffee labels, which will tell you which of our single origin beans are Rainforest Alliance Certified, and enjoy a great Merlo coffee that has been grown in accordance to the RFA’s standards of social and environmental sustainability.
